Learning Quality Management Process Lead
Position Summary
The Learning Quality Management Process Lead leads and guides the development, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of the organization’s learning quality management system.
Working across the L&D function, this role helps establish clear quality expectations and guides the translation of those expectations into practical standards, guidelines, processes, procedures, tools, and resources. The Process Lead provides expertise, direction, and support to help practitioners apply quality expectations, sustain quality management practices, and use evidence to improve the system over time.
The goal of the role is to help integrate quality throughout L&D work rather than rely primarily on end-stage review. The Process Lead serves as a resource and facilitator for the people who participate in the quality management system while reinforcing quality as a shared responsibility across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and guide the assessment of current L&D quality practices, workflows, resources, and needs to inform the development and improvement of the quality management system.
- Lead the development and maintenance of the learning quality management system, guiding the creation of appropriate standards, guidelines, policies, processes, procedures, tools, templates, and supporting resources.
- Guide the integration of quality management activities into existing L&D workflows, helping teams build quality into their work rather than relying primarily on end stage review.
- Provide guidance and support for implementing and using the quality management system, including training, consultation, performance support, and practical resources that help practitioners understand and apply quality expectations.
- Guide quality related collaboration and decision making among designers, developers, SMEs, stakeholders, project managers, reviewers, and L&D leaders.
- Provide guidance on coordinating quality reviews, checkpoints, testing, documentation, exceptions, and escalation processes, helping teams determine appropriate approaches based on the needs, risks, and complexity of the work.
- Guide the monitoring and stewardship of the quality management system, including how system use, barriers, risks, inconsistent application, and operational issues are identified and addressed.
- Provide direction for maintaining quality management system resources so standards, guidelines, processes, tools, templates, and support materials remain current, accessible, and useful.
- Lead the continuous improvement process, guiding the collection and analysis of quality related information to identify recurring issues, trends, risks, and systemic improvement opportunities.
- Guide the development, prioritization, implementation, communication, and evaluation of improvements to the learning quality management system.
Qualifications
- At least three years of professional learning and development experience.
- Corporate or organizational L&D experience.
- Working knowledge of instructional design and learning development processes.
- Experience collaborating with stakeholders and subject matter experts.
- Strong professional communication and project management capability.
- Ability to translate expectations and requirements into practical processes, guidance, and resources.
- Ability to analyze problems, recognize patterns, and develop practical recommendations.
- Ability to facilitate discussions and support adoption of new or revised ways of working.
Role Scope
The Learning Quality Management Process Lead is not solely responsible for reviewing, testing, or approving individual learning products. Rather, the role leads and guides the processes through which the organization manages quality.
The Process Lead provides the expertise, structure, guidance, resources, and support that enable designers, developers, reviewers, SMEs, stakeholders, project managers, and L&D leaders to fulfill their respective quality responsibilities. In doing so, the role helps establish quality as a shared responsibility supported by a sustainable learning quality management system.
